Each year, the American giant Apple unveils its new generation of smartphones in September. In 2019, we were able to discover the new iPhone 11, which came alongside two Pro versions. This is intended to succeed the iPhone Xr - the least expensive model in the range of phones formalized in 2018.

It is therefore technically less efficient than the new iPhone 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max, but that does not prevent it from being really excellent when it comes to value for money. Below you will find our iPhone 11 review, as well as the technical specifications and price of this new device.

While the iPhone 11 isn't as powerful as the 11 Pro version, that doesn't stop it from being excellent value for money in the latest generation of Apple smartphones. For the 2018 generation of smartphones, the iPhone XR was also considered the best compromise of the 3 phones. Does the iPhone 11 have the possibility of achieving the same status for the coming year? Answered in our iPhone 11 review.

Design of the new iPhone 11
Screen size and performance

It may be the last iPhone to feature an LCD screen - not OLED technology like the more premium (and more expensive) models do. This new iPhone 11 comes with the same technology as the iPhone Xr, but that certainly doesn't make it a "bad" phone.

Apple is still Apple, and the screen quality it puts into all of its phones lives up to the expectations of its audiences. The brand would not afford to equip its iPhone 11 with outdated technology. It must be recognized that the LCD screen is very well balanced, the color quality is exceptional.

Separately, Apple has confirmed that the latest iPhone 11 is equipped with "the strongest glass ever made in a smartphone," to best withstand drops. Interestingly, the back of the phone is made of a single date glass - which is brushed at the photosensors.

This gives much more solidity to its camera which is therefore better protected. The rim is aluminum (versus stainless steel for the iPhone 11 Pro as detailed in our review), as was already the case for the previous model. Below in our review of the iPhone 11, a detail on the finishes of the new phone.

As for the screen size, the LCD panel is 6.1 ″ diagonally, slightly larger than the iPhone 11 Pro (5.8 ″) and the same size as the iPhone XR. As for the screen definition of the iPhone 11, it remains exactly the same as for the model of the previous generation, namely 1792 x 828 px.

Whether from a technical or aesthetic point of view, the screen of this iPhone 11 is the same as that of the iPhone XR. Apple still hasn't made up its mind to remove the notch on the top of the screen - which penalizes the screen surface a bit. This notch hides the “selfie” photo sensor but also the Face ID technology (facial recognition) and the speaker. It must also be recognized that this is one of the few smartphones so premium to retain a long notch.

By keeping the notch on the iPhone 11, Apple sets itself apart from Huawei and Samsung - the two market leaders - who have decided to find alternatives. This is far from dramatic, and it does nothing to deal with navigation. Apple therefore does not want to compete with the screen-to-body ratio, and it leaves the cameras that “pop-up” or “bubbles” to its rivals. Now let's move on in our iPhone 11 review to the new colors available.

Colors of the latest iPhone 11

For this new generation of smartphones, Apple wanted to offer something new with new colors. While only one new color appears for the iPhone 11 Pro, no less than 6 colors are available for the basic iPhone 11: black, red (RED), mauve, white, green and yellow.

The brand thus wants to offer a wide range that will meet all profiles and all styles. The Cupertino company has also formalized a series of new cases that will add even more colors to new phones. Below in our iPhone 11 review, the range of colors available.

Conclusion: our opinion on the iPhone 11

For the past few months, we had been impatiently awaiting it and the presentation lived up to our expectations. While the iPhone XR was already considered excellent value for money, the iPhone 11 will establish itself as the new blockbuster of the apple brand. Its price remains below € 1,000, which is not the case with the iPhone 11 Pro which starts at € 1,159 for the 64 GB version on the French market. The iPhone 11 is on average $ 50 cheaper than the iPhone XR, which is great news.

Among the improvements that we liked in this iPhone 11 review, we can mention the improvement of the photo - with a new ultra-wide-angle sensor on the back and new modes (like night mode, or an improved portrait mode) which are really compelling. Another strong point of this phone is the battery life, which is further extended by an hour compared to the iPhone XR. The latter was already known to have a longer battery than normal at Apple, so the experience will be further improved. If Apple doesn't give details of the actual battery life, it should be at least a day and a half. The A13 chip and the increased battery capacity are among the reasons for this improvement.

Last point for gamers: the A13 Bionic chip is even more competitive thanks to a clear improvement in the CPU and GPU. While the A12 Bionic chip from the previous iPhone XR, XS and XS Max is still considered one of the top performers, the A13 Bionic processor is still a step ahead. In other words, the gaming experience on your phone is truly amazing.

And you, what is your opinion on this iPhone 11?
